I woke up really early this morning, and not on purpose. The rain had stopped and with no background noise I guess my body woke me up. It was also a little hot as I hadn’t turned the fan on last night. I fixed that by turning it on and then going back to sleep. I got the fright of my life though when I thought a photo was hovering above my desk, but it was held up by a wire that from the angle I was looking from was invisible. 5 is too early for me.

I woke up again closer to midday but then didn’t get up to much else. The ground was drying out really well, although the swimming pool, lake and several other areas were overflowing with water. Apparently the bunkers on the golf course were all their own lakes too.

All the sun didn’t help tonight though when it started to rain again. I’d gone to Happy Hour with Yvonne when the storm that was predicted finally rolled in, bring some heavy wind with it at first, but then just rain and another impressive thunder and lightning show.

Another healthy meal tonight was provided by Yvonne who gave me some leftovers from last night as well as some cold chicken. And to think I bought a whole lot of food at the start of this week, and I haven’t been able to eat any of it, well, except for the mince pies.

Yes I said meatloaf, and not the singer this time. I had a very nice meatloaf for dinner tonight at Yvonne’s. Ann was over, so Ada and I was invited too. They had roast lamb though, but I can’t eat that, so the meatloaf sufficed, and it was very nice indeed.

This morning, or afternoon, when I got up, I was quite surprised by the turn in the weather. It was sunny and the ground was finally drying up. However the rain did come back, as per the weather forecast and it came back with a massive thunderstorm that stretched from Cairns to Hobart.

There were some great flashes of lightning tonight and the thunder made the house shake it was so close. The pool was overflowing when I last checked on it too, but no wind.

I cleaned my fan in my room this evening by running it through the dishwasher. The amount of dust on it was unbelievable, it’s no wonder my eyes are red and nose runny. At least I think I’ve found the problem, and the solution.

The rain is constant. It is unrelenting. It hasn’t stopped since it started, so you’d hope the dams were filling up, but I just checked and the biggest one has actually lost water, not gained it. It’s odd. The weather is fine though, it’s cool and the rain sounds nice as it hits the roof.

This morning I had a plan, to get some groceries. Before I got them though I was also instructed to get a newspaper, as Sze Sze was featured in it, for her karate skills. I got both shortly after lunch. The groceries bill was larger this week due to having to buy dishwasher tablets and other items I don’t usually get.

I went to see Yvonne this afternoon, but found she wasn’t there so I had a cup of tea and had a play with Chilli while waiting for her to get home. Luckily she didn’t take too long, and then both Ada and Yvonne wanted copies of the paper so they could cut out Sze Sze’s story.

This evening there wasn’t much on TV and I didn’t do a whole lot. I would of ordinarily been playing trivia tonight, but with the rain not letting up I didn’t fancy the drive to Springfield.

All today though I have been allergic to something. I’m not sure what it is but my nose is a little blocked and I sometimes have itchy eyes. Maybe the dust in this house is getting to me, I don’t know? I’ve taken a strepsil and lemsip tonight to help with that and my throat.

The rain hasn’t stopped today and has been slowly falling all the time. I did go outside at one stage and rode the bike, but with the rain has come cooler temperatures, so I didn’t stay out long as it was actually chilly. I prefer it though, better than heat.

I woke up this morning with a sore throat surprisingly. I think it might be a knee jerk reaction to the amount of alcohol I had the other day, although it’s taken a while to come about, and I was and still am eating moderately healthily. I had some veggies last night and have been eating fruit yoghurts for a while. It’s just another ailment I’ll end up keeping for a little bit.

Not surprisingly, nothing much happened here today, but I did get some things sorted online. Myspace has finally updated their profiles interface and although I imagine they’ll get an amazing backlash from their old tacky users, it looks a lot better and my profile I think looks good. There’s a direct link from my blog right now.

The new version of Safari I downloaded over the weekend seems to have some issues. My computer has become completely unresponsive 3 times already and I’m not very happy about that. I have heard sporadic reports on the interweb about others having problems too, so I hope another update is brought out to fix the update that was released. Till then I am going to be using Webkit instead and I hope that solves my issues, considering that’s beta software anyway.

As long as it’s not a really shit day tomorrow, I’ll probably do some shopping as I am running low on some essentials and have run out of veggies, which I definitely need.

By the time I finally arose this morning it was too hot too even contemplate having a shower and I was wearing hardly anything, had the sheets kicked back and a fan pointed at me. It certainly has got to that stage again where I really wish I was somewhere else.

I was going to just jump in the pool instead of a shower this morning, but got side tracked with TV and my computer. Instead I had a shower this evening, even though it still felt too hot to be having one.

In the middle of the afternoon the sky got dark and it started to rain. Humidity isn’t something I look forward to and it certainly hasn’t been dry recently.

Also, with the increasing temperatures and humidity has come more bugs that like to bite me, so for the past couple days my feet have been bitten and now itch a lot. I got up too fast today from the desk and bashed my knee, so that’s also very sore now. I’m aching all over pretty much.

It’s so boring here already, because I know it’s not going to get any better any time soon. I just want to take a trip somewhere and do something different.

Luckily I drank a lot of water before bed, because this morning, short of having a really dry mouth, I was feeling pretty good. I did have a long sleep-in though, and did have a very big glass of milk when I couldn’t find any more water, but I was feeling a lot better than some.

After a shower and a yoghurt I packed up whatever remained in my room and then loaded it into the car. I made sure to remove any blue-tack from the walls and even got the vacuum out to clean my floor. Hopefully I’ll get the full bond back when they’re done their inspection.

Following that, I made myself a cuppa with my last tea bag and walked over to Kim’s unit to start the clean up over there. To my surprise, a few of them had already taken care of most of the trash and pitched in to get everything back in order. Left to do for me was to move the couch back to my unit, and that was very easy to do. Nothing had been spilt on it, and it’d actually been aired out, being outside and all. I reckon Education City will probably still want to give me a breach for it, but seeing as I left this afternoon, for the year, they’d be best to just let it go. Both apartments looked cleaner when we were done with the clean-up anyway.

Unbelievably some were still awake and still drinking, despite having been going for more than 24 hours by then. Richard was in awful shape, drifting off on the couch in his unit every so often, while considering another beer to “cure” his pounding head.

Finally finished with moving out, cleaning-up and catching up, I got in my car, turned the A/C to full blast for 5 minutes and then set off. It was a really hot ride down the coast. I don’t know what the temperature was, but it was too hot. Upon getting home I emptied my pockets then dived straight into the pool, still funny clothed sans shoes. It was refreshing.

This afternoon I caught up on my sci-fi shows, before walking the dogs with Ada and Yvonne just before it got dark. I had wondered where Yvonne was this afternoon when I had stopped by to see her, forgetting there was a commitment ceremony a few doors down she was attending.

This evening I was back to my usual here. Watched some TV, had dinner, a healthy dinner though, having some vegetables to get my digestive system working properly again. It was hot, but I survived without the A/C, though I don’t know for how much longer I’ll survive, with the weather report predicting increasingly hotter weather in the next week alone.

Last night I had a sort of revelation as I was lying in bed. It wasn’t life changing or anything like that, but it did make the party held today a lot more cool. Basically I decided that instead of just using my iPod to play music, I’d go the same route as I did on my birthday, and use the iPod as the remote for my computer. Unfortunately the Airport Express was on the Gold Coast.

So this morning I woke up early and drove home to pick up the wireless device. Ordinarily that’d be a massive waste of fuel though, so I also packed up some of the bigger items in my room and brought them with me, as I knew it’d be a tight fit tomorrow otherwise. All in all, it worked out for the best, as my bike ended up taking a lot of space in the car.

I got back to the campus an hour before lunchtime and got started setting up the place, as well as buying some sausages (with the money from the previous win at trivia) and some ice for the esky/beer. Tim turned up shortly before 12, and we cracked the first beer shortly afterwards.

Initially we moved one couch out the front door, turned up some music and sat there drinking, watching the world go by. As Richard and Michael turned up another couch was brought outside and the day was moving alone fine. Unfortunately someone always has to rain on you somewhere, and that happened around 2 when the cleaners spotted our small (at that stage) gathering and informed the woman in charge of Education City (landlord) that our couch was outside. We were told to put it back in. We did so until she left for the day, an hour or so later.

We had a late lunch around 3 or 4, cooking the sausages at the BBQ pit and lined our stomachs pretty well. There were also crisps passed around later on in the evening, and I made myself some noodles at one stage too.

At an early stage of the evening some of the guests left to go to the official USQ ball, held at the tavern down the road. I hadn’t bought a ticket considering it’s high price ($40) just for food and speeches. Many were in the same position as me, though some did go, but were back only a couple hours later when it finished. I guess it wasn’t that good?

About the time these people got back, another guest had arrived, friends of someone in another unit, who had brought with him his pet snake. I can’t remember what type of python it was, but she was about 2 metres long and really tame, getting passed around many guests. She took to me, or rather, I took to her really well. It was great having her wrapped around me, makes me want a snake now.

Shortly after that I stopped drinking. I’d been drinking for 10 or 11 hours straight and although I’d long since lost count, I’d imagine I got through about 15 bottles of beer, if not a few more. I was really feeling the effects though and immediately began drinking water and eating to soak up the alcohol.

Although I had stopped drinking, I stayed around everyone, listening to music, talking, joking around and getting sober. I went to my room at 2.

Pretty much everyone that came round to the front had a go on my iPod, changing the music. All were impressed with how it worked, and as can be seen on my Last.fm page, the music went non-stop, through many genres from just after noon till nearly 3 in the morning.

Another boring day at university really, the night’s get interesting, but the day sucks. So this afternoon there wasn’t a lot going on. I watched Office Space in Kim’s unit, and then the movie I bought, Mel Brooks’ History of the World: Part 1. I thought Office Space was really good, lots of laughs and a very good script. My movie was a little less funny in places, though there were some funny bits, just really spread out.

This evening was open mic night, the last one of the year, however it again received a very small turnout. The band from previous nights was back, as loud as ever and playing to about 7 people. I listened to a song and a half before leaving, slightly deafened already.

Seeing as today is Thursday, we also had a healthy dinner for the week at Subway. When I start spending more time on the Gold Coast, next week, I’ll eat much more healthily as I’ll have a number of things I don’t have here, as outlined below.

After a dismal open mic night and a couple TV shows away from the racket, I played some more pool and table tennis in the common room. This time Andy and Adam came along too and we had a doubles match to 21, which was a lot of fun, but a real workout too, like you wouldn’t believe.

As mentioned above, the kitchen in my unit is now missing several items. As I have mentioned several times before, things go missing between units all the time and it’s not a concern, but as of yesterday and today, Charles and Clement moved out respectively. With them they took several saucepans, frying pans and other miscellaneous cutlery. Nothing I can do about it, and although I was pissed off I couldn’t make my soup noodles tonight as a snack, I’m beyond caring and will make a point to tell Education City as I move out that they aren’t missing, they’ve just been taken, and not by me. That being said, they only moved to another unit on the other side of the area. Oh... and to top it off, they actually broke the microwave.

Tomorrow, a nice BBQ in the afternoon, hopefully sat on a couch in the grassy area, having some drinks and generally chilling out.

Another late-ish start for me today, and I was going to sleep in for part of the afternoon too, had I not received a text from Warrick shortly after 12. I presumed he wanted to catch up over lunch, however I had no credit to reply, and he was no where to be found when I got outside. Add to that it started raining, so I just stayed inside till it stopped.

Eventually we caught up, and I finally used my Sanity gift card at Orion. I had to contribute $15 additionally to it to get 3 DVD’s for $30. I thought it was good value, so I got The Neverending Story, an old movie, but a good one, and one I’ve been talking about for a while considering that photo of Chilli looks like the Luck Dragon. Anyway, we watched it tonight, and it was quite good, although clearly not the most visually appealing movie seeing as it was made in 1984.

I also bought Road to Perdition, and Mel Brooks’ History of the World: Part 1. I shall watch both movies on another night I reckon.

I got a good deal on a case of beer today too. For $24.90 I managed 24 bottles of beer from Barcelona, which was imported to Australia. On the side of the box it says they are proud supporters of Emirates Team New Zealand. Truly international, and it’s drinkable.

I edited my resume today too, after encountering a small issue with Pages, although I rectified it pretty quickly and mum should now have a copy of it to send off somewhere.

Additionally tonight, I have changed my email address in the “contact me” link available on some of my pages. It now includes some text that should be removed if you don’t have my email, simply to protect myself from spam. However you should already have my email address, so there shouldn’t be a need to worry about this.

I had a bit of a late start to the day today. I’d had a very late night last night as you should know, playing ping pong, and then writing my blog, so I was sleeping through much of the morning. I arose before 12 though and had a shower, got cleaned up and out of my room.

The first order of business for the day was shopping. The milk in the fridge had started smelling a little off and so I couldn’t use that for tea, so I needed to buy some new milk, among other things. I had noodles for lunch, not amazingly healthy really, and pizza for dinner. I must of been hungry though as I finished the whole pizza.

Trivia was good, we averaged 6 points each round, finishing on 36, plus two points from last week instead of the agreed upon 4. Even so, we still only did as good as 4th place. Unfortunately the trivia prizes haven’t gone our way recently and tonight was no different. It’s a small game, and we only pay $2 each, but we all want alcohol, and not that I don’t like white wine, but I can’t drink it due to my teeth, and our other team members aren’t fans of it either. We were beaten to the two red wine bottles unfortunately and that caused the night to end a little sooner than normal. It also didn’t help that Andreas wouldn’t drink with us after, as he had to study for his exams.

Either way, I had a couple beers this evening, far short of what I’d of drunk had we won something decent. We played a small game of uno for a bit, and as so often happens, we set the finish line at 1000, of course that’d be for the loser to get to. Kim got there tonight after starting very badly.

After uno I had a few games of ping pong with Rion before he had to go home, and I had to go to my bedroom to write this entry. Another late night.

I didn’t get round to doing my resume for a possible job in Japan today either. I had meant to, but will do so tomorrow now.
